27. 1. 2013 / The last competition of the Junior World Championships in Liberec ended according to expectations. The gold medal in the men´s relay was won by the favourites of the competition, the Russians, the silver medal going to Norway and the bronze to the Swedish relay team. The Russian athletes managed to cope with a crisis of the championship’s four-time medallist Maltsev. His colleagues made up for his delay and the team won a well-deserved gold.

The Poles and Germans won the silver in this beautiful early evening contest.

The Norwegians had another reason for rejoicing in Kari Oeyre Slind’s bronze medal.

Terese Stadlober, daughter of Alois Stadlober, the relay world champion at Ramsau 1999, has won her second medal in Liberec, her first being the silver in the 5km freestyle on Wednesday.

Besides many sport trophies, Lukáš Bauer has also won a silver medal in a junior championship many years ago, so he can appreciate better than anyone else what the young competitors are going through.

A week before the start of the championships, the cross-country venue in Vesec was tested by the senior world elite. On 12 and 13 January the best men and women sprinters competed for points in the World Cup in four races.

2. 1. 2012 / The Organizing Committee of the FIS Nordic Junior & U23 World Ski Championships in Liberec is still receiving applications specifying the numbers of participants for this top event. In mid-December, 950 applications were registered (605 competitors and 345 supporting team members). At the end of January, the numbers increased to 1 014 participants – 643 athletes and 371 support team members.

The Vesec and Ještěd venues will both undergo important trial runs before the start of the JWSC 2013. In Vesec the FIS Ski Sprint World Cup will take place on 12th and 13th January 2013. On the same date, the readiness of the Jump Hill on Ještěd will be examined by the participants of the nationwide qualifying competition.
